Suggested Age: Participants must sit and focus for the duration of the 3-hr workshop. Artistically engaged kids, teens and adults are welcome!

Instructor | A. D. Greenless

A.D. Greenlees graduated from the Comics and Graphic Novels Program in 2017, where they published their first collection of stories titled Too Much. That year, A.D. joined Kraken Komiks, a comics collective local to Victoria, BC, Canada. They published a five page story—“Swipe Right”—in Kraken Komiks’ 2017 anthology, Primordial.

In 2018 Kraken Komiks published their fourth anthology—Space—that included A.D.’s three page silent comic, “Just Visiting”. And in 2019 their 8 page fantasy—titled “Dysphoria”—was published in Kraken’s Mystical Bestiary; this anthology was A.D.’s debut as project editor for the collective. They ended 2019 publishing 5 one page stories in Kraken’s Childhood Nightmares anthology.

Course Description | Creating Comics with Watercolour

This Watercolour Comic Workshop focuses on the basics of drawing, colour, and storytelling. We will use tools to transfer pencil drawings onto watercolour paper, and each student should go home with at least one painting.

We’ll show you how to use a light-box to trace and transfer images from one page to another.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

As per the Provincial Health Order, all students must pre-register. Masks are mandatory and proof of first immunization will be required upon entry to the workshop. This is a mandatory and legal health measure and we are unable to accommodate any exceptions. Thank you for your understanding.

  • All students must pre-register, no drop-ins will be permitted

  • Students must wear a mask at all times inside ECAH and during the course

  • Hand sanitizer will be provided upon entry

  • Desks have been sanitized with an alcohol-based solution before class

  • Desks must be sanitized after each class

  • Students are seated 6’ apart

  • We ask that all students and visitors to ECAH do their best to social distance at all times

Accessibility

  • There are two easy-access parking spots directly in front of 901 Esquimalt Road. Please leave these spots for those with mobility issues.

  • Our washroom can accommodate a wheelchair or other mobility device, and is gender-neutral.

  • Our tables are 5’ long and can be moved as needed. There are no steps into the building.

  • Our doors are not currently automated, but a staff member can assist you if needed

  • If you have concerns about visiting, please contact us and we can arrange a walk-through with you.

  • ECAH is a welcoming place for people of all backgrounds and lived experiences. We invite your direction on how we can best accommodate your individual needs and will work collaboratively to ensure ECAH is an accessible space.
