Event Description | Hop & Talk: Creative Meetups for Inspired People
Chinatown is a beloved neighbourhood in Victoria, loved by tourists and locals alike. But, how much do you really know about the history of Chinatown and the stories of Chinese-Canadians in Victoria?
Join ECAH in a self-directed tour of two temporary exhibits in Chinatown’s Fan Tan Alley: Chinese Canadian Journeys in Victoria and Gold Mountain Dream!. These exhibitions explore the intergenerational resilience of Chinese Canadians in Victoria and stories of Chinese migrant workers during the Fraser Gold Rush in the 1850s.
Chinese Canadian Journeys in Victoria is produced by the Chinese Canadian Museum in collaboration with Victoria Chinatown Museum Society.
Gold Mountain Dream! is produced by Royal BC Museum in collaboration with the Canadian Museum of History.
